Our travels this month brought us to beautiful and bucolic Dexter, location of the Dexter Shores RV Park, about 20 miles southeast of Eugene, Oregon.
As we were arriving, we were happy to see a run-down old pub right next to the entrance of the RV park…

It’s always good to have a nice, low-key, relaxed place to grab a drink and some food nearby, so a few days after we arrived we stopped in for some beer and BBQ.
As they say, the food was warm and the beer was cold, not the other way around. The BBQ was damned good, and any beers local to the great state of Oregon are exceptional, but as we finished eating, we noticed a framed newspaper clipping on the wall, and suddenly the vague feeling of familiarity became crystal clear.
This joint is THE Dexter Lake Club from the movie “Animal House”…

After this revelation, everything else fell into place: University of Oregon at Eugene is where the movie was filmed.
We haven’t really explored the campus seeking out movie landmarks, but many of them are still there. Like the Dexter Lake Club…
